The Chaffee County League of Women Voters hosted a public Drinks & Dialogue event  on February 15th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM
at the Bounty Restaurant in Salida.

What Happened to the Facts? Three eminent journalists will discuss the impact of “fake news “ on democracy and the role of the press in keeping citizens informed in an era of highly partisan politics and siloed information.
Panel members include:

Tom Linthicum,  journalism professor at the University of Maryland, former City Editor of the Baltimore Sun, and Executive Editor of the Daily Record, Baltimore’s business and legal newspaper, and professor of journalism at the University of Maryland. Tom is scheduled to Skype in.

Elizabeth Skewes, Chair of the Journalism Department at the University of Colorado. Dr. Skewes focuses on media sociology, news practices and the role of media in electoral policy.

Andrew Calabrese, professor of Media Studies at the University of Colorado focusing on the role of media in supporting civil society and social justice.
