Democracy depends on citizens' informed and active participation in government.

The League of Women Voters of Chaffee County (LWVCC) hosts speakers and non-partisan candidate and issues forums for Chaffee County residents. Our mission is to help local citizens become better informed, have the opportunity to meet local and state candidates running for office, and ask the questions directly that are important to them. These forums are announced in the newspapers, on social media and on the LWVCC website. Videos of the forum are also available a few days later on the website under the Video tab. LWVCC knows the value of meeting candidates directly rather than just reading their prepared statements in the media.  Attending or watching a League-hosted candidate forum or ballot issues presentation is one of the best ways to become informed on the candidates and issues before casting your ballot.

LWVCC also encourages residents to know and practice The Ten Habits of a Good Citizen as outlined by Richard Haass’ in his book The Bill of Obligations. The League of Women Voters Colorado and the Chaffee County Clerk and Recorder also have voter resources.
