League members and the public are invited to attend this Zoom presentation where journalists covering Colorado will share their personal experiences reflecting the health of local journalism, evaluate the future of local news and journalism, and give their recommendations for news presentation in the future.
In 2020, the median age in Chaffee County was reported as 49.3 years--up from 41.8 years in 2000—and indicating an increasing population of those 65 years and older.
On Monday, October 9th. The LWV of Chaffee County will host a panel discussion exploring what services are available to this growing population. Members of the panel will include Molly Bischoff, LNHA, Chaffee County Public Health Department Aging Well coordinator; Tom McConaghy, Upper Arkansas Area Council of Governments director; Aubrey Tamietti, Arkansas Valley Helping Hands program coordinator; and task force leaders for Places to Age, a grass roots nonprofit focused on bringing assisted living and memory care to Chaffee County. The monthly social and meeting will be held at the Poncha Springs Town Hall at 11:15 a.m. and the panel from 12:00-1:00 p.m.
